A dental implant is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.

Implant Bridges

An implant-supported bridge is similar to a regular dental bridge, but it is supported by implants and not by natural teeth. In most cases, when an implant-supported bridge is used, one implant is placed in the jawbone for each missing tooth. Then the crowns are connected to each other to form one piece.

Implant-supported bridges and dentures also are more comfortable and stable than conventional dentures, allowing you to retain a more natural biting and chewing capacity.

Your bone is better preserved because implant-supported bridges and dentures will replace some of your missing tooth roots. With conventional dentures, the bone that previously surrounded the tooth root may begin to resorb (deteriorate). Dental implants integrate with your jawbone, helping to keep the bone healthy and strong.

Single Tooth Implant

Single-tooth implants can be used in people who are missing one or more teeth. The single tooth implant is placed by surgery in the upper or lower jaw, where it replaces your missing tooth’s root(s).

A single tooth implant does not require the grinding down and crowning of the adjacent natural teeth. The single tooth implant is placed in the area of the missing tooth and essentially replaces the natural tooth root. A crown is constructed upon the dental implant, and no other teeth are affected. The bone in the area of the missing tooth is preserved and does not recede. This is especially important if the missing tooth is located in the “aesthetic zone”, or smile line. The single tooth implant functions the same as a natural tooth and does not decay.

Same Day Implant

When a person loses one or more of their natural teeth, same day dental implants are one of the best options available.

Same day teeth with dental implants is a method of placing multiple dental implants in the upper and lower jaws, along with the corresponding teeth restorations, within the same day. The implants and the teeth restorations can also be used immediately within the same day of placement.

Same day teeth with dental implants offer great solutions for missing teeth, especially in cases when the patient’s jaw bone structure is not sufficient for the placement of traditional dental implants. Same day teeth with dental implants can be placed without the need for a bone grafting procedure.

All on 4 Implants

All-on-4 dental implants can support a whole arch of teeth using only four implants. This can be used on either the upper or lower jaw and immediately replaces missing teeth which not only look and feel similar to your natural teeth, but function normally also.

The implant procedure All-on-4 Dental Implants combines the advantages of both dentures and dental implants into one replacement method.

The All-on-4 anchored denture procedure uses four dental implants to attach each custom full-arch denture to the upper and/or lower jaw. The titanium implants are anchored to the bone, and will eventually fuse to the bone itself through a process called osseointegration, where they can ultimately become a permanent part of your mouth like natural teeth roots. Since the implants can often take full advantage of existing bone in patients who qualify for this procedure, there is typically no need for a bone graft. Full sets of dentures are anchored to the four implants, which give them significantly more stability without the need for a separate implant to replace each tooth.

Implant Dentures

Implant dentures, also sometimes called implant-supported or implant-anchored dentures, are a type of dental appliance that is affixed to the upper arch, lower arch, or both to replace missing teeth. The denture is secured by four to six dental implants, so a snug fit can be achieved without the need for pastes, gels, and other messy adhesives.

An implant-supported denture is used when a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw, but has enough bone in the jaw to support implants. An implant-supported denture has special attachments that snap onto attachments on the implants.

There are two types of implant-supported dentures:

  • Bar-retained dentures: A thin metal bar that follows the curve of your jaw is attached to two to five implants that have been placed in your jawbone. Clips or other types of attachments are fitted to the bar, the denture or both. The denture fits over the bar and is securely clipped into place by the attachments.
  • Ball-retained dentures: Each implant in the jawbone holds a metal attachment that fits into another attachment on the denture. In most cases, the attachments on the implants are ball-shaped, and they fit into sockets on the denture.

Implant Supported Denture

An implantsupported denture is a type of overdenture that is supported by and attached to implants. A regular denture rests on the gums, and is not supported byimplants. An implantsupported denture is used when a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw, but has enough bone in the jaw to support implants.
